Reids (Minishant) wins licence

27 June 2007

Reids Transport (Minishant), formed by a traffic clerk previously employed at Reids Transport, has won an O-licence for 30 vehicles. Scottish deputy traffic commissioner Richard Macfarlane granted the licence at an Edinburgh inquiry. Andrew Fraser formed Ayr-based Reids (Minishant) after Reids Transport ran into financial difficulties during 2006. Macfarlane said the ownership had changed but it was trading from the same place and serving the same customers.

He heard that the shareholders  and officers had been changed and the new firm served a proportion of the old company's customers. Macfarlane said he recently followed two of the firm's vehicles doing up to 60mph where the speed limit was 40mph. He warned he would not have vehicles speeding because of the danger it caused. Fraser said Reids (Minishant) did not condone speeding but could not always stop it.
