Signs have been put up warning lorry drivers to ignore satellite navigation systems after a spate of accidents in two locations. Last month Suffolk County Council placed warning notices on each side of an 8ft high railway bridge at Needham Market, Suffolk, following incidents of LGV drivers getting stuck when their satnav systems apparently described the bridge as a level crossing.
Council spokeswoman Vicky Smy, says: "The current signs are temporary advisory signs but we will be replacing
these with permanent and mandatory ones towards the end of the year." Signs have also been put up in Exton Village, Hampshire, where lorries have repeatedly been trapped in a narrow road after being given the all-clear by their navigation systems.
