Transport and logistics managers are bottom in a pay league of management pay rises, says a new report. The average pay rise for managers in all industries for the year to January 207 was 5.3%. For those managers in transport and logistics, this plummets to 2.6%. The survey of more than 42,000 management level employees by the Chartered Management Institute and pay specialists Remuneration Economics finds resignations among transport managers have risen - at 2.4% compared with 1.5% in 2006.
But it is not all bad news, says Mike Petrook, Remuneration Ecomonics public affairs manager. "Over the past couple of years the [transport] industry has been ahead of the game, and in real terms one of the highest paying sectors." The average salary for managers in the sector was £50,303, compared with £47,449 for managers across the UK.
