B Taylor & Sons Transport has been granted an additional five vehicles on its licence at its third public inquiry in four years for maintenance problems, but the decision will not take effect for three months.
North Eastern deputy traffic commissioner Elizabeth Perrett immediately granted the Kirkby-in-Ashfield based company authorisation for an operating centre in Sutton-at-Ashfield. She said she was confident that MD and transport manager Alan Taylor would follow advice given to the best of his abilities.
Vehicle examiner Hayden Smith said since the last public inquiry in January 2005 the company had been issued nine immediate and 11 delayed prohibitions 13 in the past 12 months. Taylor said it was very rare to have a failure at annual test. Driver and fitter training was ongoing and he was looking to sign up to the RHA maintenance audit system.
