Ramage buys UFD out of administration

17 July 2007

Ramage Group has bought rival Scottish haulier UFD Group out of administration. The deal was sealed on the afternoon of July 16; Kirkcaldy, Fife-based UFD went into administration that morning. Ramage chairman and chief executive Neil Cunningham  says: “We had been speaking to [UFD] for a while and [the purchase] made sense in itself. The administration issue was unfortunate.”

UFD is reported to have suffered due to the Working Time Directive. It also bought Sandy Bruce Trucking out of administration in September 2006. Cunningham says “they worked hard to build a UK network like a lot of us.” Cunningham led a management buy-out of Ramage in March 2007.
