Davies Turner starts Bristol hub expansion

18 July 2007

Davies Turner has begun work on a multi-million pound expansion of its existing freight and logistics hub at Bristol. By the time work on the firm's Western Freight Terminal is complete - expected to be March 2008 - it will comprise two warehouses within the same secure perimeter fence, occupy 25,000 square metres and employ more than 100 staff.

Philip Stephenson, joint managing director of Davies Turner, says: "This is the start of much needed expansion for Davies Turner in the South West  as our existing transit depot is already working to full capacity. "We are fortunate that the extra land became available next to our present building at exactly the right time.

"We plan to install compatible CCTV and security systems so that these can be integrated with those installed throughout the rest of the group facilities." Bristol is one of Davies Turner's key multi-modal hubs, serving South Wales and the West Country. Davies Turner also has freight hubs at Dartford, Heathrow, Coleshill, Manchester, Cumbernauld and Dublin.
