Floods leave hauliers floundering

Friday 27 July 2007 12:00

Operators in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire have faced horrific conditions during last week's flood disasters. Tewkesbury-based Edgwicks Transport can get to and from its premises only by boat, says company secretary Roger Smith.

"We can't get the trucks in or out. We've been flooded before but we've never seen anything like this," Smith says, adding that one of the company's vehicles has been waterlogged.

Nearby, Marshalls Transport in Evesham, Worcestershire, reports its trucks could reach the motorway on Friday, but MD George Simpson says the company is running on "skeleton staff" as most of its drivers' homes are flooded.
