A government and industry backed scheme aimed at reducing work-related injury rates on UK roads has recommended fleet managers specify ESC (electronic stability control) on new vehicles. Department for Transport (DfT) research shows that the technology reduces fatal accidents by 25%.
The Driving for Better Business scheme, unveiled by the motor and transport industry safety partnership RoadSafe, is part of a larger DfT scheme aimed at encouraging employers to embrace health and safety legislation while driving during working hours.
Adrian Walsh, RoadSafe director, says: "It is vitally important that employers manage those who drive on company business well. Backing this up by providing vehicles fitted with ESC will make a real difference."
