Police are appealing for witnesses to the theft of more than 5,000 bottles of whisky worth £51,000 from a truck that was parked in a lay-by on the A1 at Long Bennington, Lincs overnight between 16 and 17 July.
The truck, belonging to Polish transport firm Skat, was slashed and 814 cases of Grant's whisky were stolen while the driver slept in the cab. The stolen whisky included 100 cases containing 12 70cl bottles and 714 cases containing six one-litre bottles.
The whisky had been collected from William Grant's distillery in Lanarkshire and was on route to Poland the writing on the labels sealing the bottles was in Polish. Anyone with information should contact Lincolnshire Police on 01476 402222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
