North Somerset County Council is to go ahead with an 18-month trial of weight restrictions despite what the Road Haulage Association (RHA) says is "widespread" opposition. The restrictions will ban anything weighing more than 7.5t on the A368 and B3134 near Cheddar.
Mike Moore, RHA area manager for the South-West, warns that the project could be dangerous. He says neighbouring authorities are refusing to put up warning signs before drivers reach boundries.
