The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has called on Transport for London (TfL) to change the wording of its advertisement for the London low-emission zone (LEZ), claiming it is misleading for hauliers.
Roger King, chief executive at the RHA, says the advert states that trucks above 12 tonnes must meet "Euro-3 emissions standards", even though the regulations refer only to the particulate matter (PM) standard for Euro-3.
"The advertisement is factually inaccurate and grossly misleading in what it tells lorry operators. We are astonished that TfL should continue to mislead companies with an advertisement the inaccuracy of which we pointed out more than a month ago. TfL has apparently taken no notice whatsoever."
This comes after the news that certain Euro-1 and Euro-2 trucks are legally allowed into the London LEZ, as they comply with the set PM standard. The RHA claims that the difference between TfL's advert and the true regulation is at least 30,000 trucks.
King says it is hoping TfL will take its concerns on board, but if it fails to make changes the RHA will consider referring the advert to the Advertising Standards Authority.
