ALLMI and truck manufacturers set to meet

24 August 2007

Truck manufacturers and the Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers (ALLMI) will meet next month to discuss issues regarding wiring into engine management systems. At the meeting, to be held in the Midlands on 28 September, ALLMI and the truck manufacturers will discuss and agree ways to improve the communication and information chain between all parties in relation to the wiring into,  and subsequent programming of, engine management systems.

Alan Johnson, commercial director of ALLMI and MD of SJB CraneCO, says: "This is an ongoing issue for all parties concerned.

"For quite some time it has often been the case that lack of understanding between crane installers/bodybuilders and truck manufacturers/dealers has resulted in a customer receiving a finished vehicle that is incorrectly wired or programmed - or both."

Truck manufacturers to be represented include Daf, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes , Renault, Scania and Volvo. ALLMI attendees will include all the main UK-represented manufacturers, independent service providers and some of the UK's best-known bodybuilders.
