RHA recommends UK wide Low Emission Certificate

Tuesday 28 August 2007 12:00

The Road Haulage Association has welcomed Vosa's promise that it will be able to handle the smoke tests needed for a London Low Emission Certificate (LEC) from 3 September. Now the RHA urges all operators to obtain LECs if their vehicles are eligible because this could increase the value of their trucks and make them saleable to operators who are struggling to meet the LEZ requirements.

LECs will be required for Euro-1 and Euro-2 trucks that meet the required emission standard without modification and don't already have Department for Transport Reduced Pollution Certificates. The LEZ will come into force for vehicles above 12 tonnes on 4 February 2008.
