The Department for Transport's latest quarterly figures on the number of goods vehicles travelling from Britain to mainland Europe show a small increase on the same period last year.
In the second quarter of this year, 720,000 vehicles made the journey, including 198,000 unaccompanied trailers. Of more than 500,000 powered vehicles, 382,600 were foreign and 128,200 UK-registered.
The number of foreign vehicles was fractionally up on the same time last year and the number of UK vehicles fractionally down. The figures are compiled by returns provided by roll-on/roll-off ferry operators and by Eurotunnel.
