Turners (Soham) is fitting anti-fuel-theft devices to all its new vehicles. A total of 100 out of the nearly 1,000-strong Turners fleet have already been fitted with the InstantFit NECK-IT units. Each new vehicle joining the fleet will incorporate the devices, including the 40 new trucks currently on order from DAF dealership The Marshall Group.
Tim King, fleet engineer at Turners, says a sudden spate of diesel theft experienced by its vehicles in laybys and service areas moved the issue
up the agenda. He adds: "The vehicles on which these units were fitted have reported no cases of fuel theft, so we now intend to fit them to all new vehicles as they join the fleet."
