West Midlands deputy traffic commissioner Roger Seymour has adjourned a case against Willenhall, West Midlands-based Hauc Construction (UK) indefinitely after telling the Regional Intelligence Unit and VOSA to "get their act together". Seymour said the agencies needed time to sort their information out to give him a full picture of how Hauc was complying with the law. At the Birmingham disciplinary inquiry, only part of a traffic examiner's report was available.
Hauc had been called before Seymour for vehicle maintenance concerns, using an unauthorised operating centre and using more vehicles than were authorised. Vehicle examiner John Matthews said he imposed a delayed prohibition for a loose wheelnut on a vehicle during a maintenance investigation in March 2006. He was told the firm had applied for the vehicle to be specified on an O-licence, but it was not specified until September 2006.
For the company, Michael Carless said there was some confusion between the operating centre and the administration centre, although an application had been made to change the operating centre to Willenhall. It was admitted that vehicles had been put on the road without there being a margin on the licence, but no vehicles were operated beyond the number authorised.
