Vosa guidelines for Low Emissions Certificate

17 September 2007

Vosa has published guidelines for operators who want to book their vehicles in for low emissions tests to obtain a Low Emissions Certificate (LEC) or a Reduced Pollution Certificate (RPC). It is urging vehicle operators to check whether their trucks are eligible for LECs or RPCs before booking the test. This can be done on the Transport for London website here - LECs can be issued by all Vosa test stations.

When booking vehicles in the eligible engine type or the vehicle modification (such as an aftermarket exhaust) must be mentioned. During core opening hours the test fee is £28, falling to £17 if it is carried out at the same time as the annual inspection. The London Low Emission Zone, which requires Euro-3 standards of particulate matter, is being implemented in phases, starting with HGVs over 12 tonnes in February 2008 followed by HGVs over 3.5 tonnes in July 2008.
