The Department for Transport (DfT) is asking companies involved in the manufacture, build, import or sale of vehicles to take part in a survey in regard to the EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval (ECWVTA) regulations.
The regulations are expected to come into effect early 2009 and will cover all new road going goods vehicles, buses, coaches and trailers. The survey is designed to ensure the agencies responsible for providing approval services have sufficient resource to meet the demand. It is available here and runs until 31 October.
The ECWVTA regulations are designed to ensure that vehicles are safe to use on the road without the need to inspect each vehicle. Once in place, vehicles made or imported for sale in the UK or across Europe can only be sold with ECWVTA certification.
