The West Midlands Business Council has warned that truck crime will increase if South Staffordshire District Council approves a plan to close the Nightowl truckstop in Cheshire. The site at J1 of the M54 is under threat after the owners of the land has applied for permission to erect a 23,000m2 of warehousing.
Mike Chery, chairman of the council's regional business crime forum, says the way to stop truck crime is to provide secure parking and the Nightowl site is one of the few to provide secure parking in the West Midlands. "It's closure will cause more truck crime."
