Durable Caddy to offer British Gas longer life

21 September 2007

British Gas is extending the length of time it keeps its LCVs, and is citing this as one of the key reasons for ordering 1,000 VW Caddy vans.

Colin Marriot, general manager of fleet at British Gas, says: "We are extending the lifespan of our vehicles from three to four years and may move to five years in the future. We have chosen the Volkswagen Caddy as we are impressed with its durability and competitive whole-life costs compared to its rivals."

He explains that the company already  has three years of experience with the Caddy, having taken delivery of 50 units in 2004. "Our experience with these, plus the feedback from our drivers, has been excellent," he says.

The vans, which will all be delivered before the end of the year, are expected to cover 12,000 miles per annum. All are equipped with a 2-litre SDI engine, and have been specified with a racking system and speed limiter.
