The DfT and VOSA have issued new advice for the use of digital tachographs in double-manned operations, stating that both drivers must enter their driver cards at the start of using the vehicle. When the vehicle is moving, time spent as a second man will be recorded as a period of availability and the mode cannot be changed to other work, or break, until the vehicle is stationary.
