Canute purchases three acre site in Purfleet

24 October 2007

Essex-based haulage firm Canute Group has expanded its Purfleet HQ with the purchase of a new three-acre site. The depot, which includes 10,000ft2 of warehousing, will commence operations next week. However, the firm intends to completely rebuild the warehousing on the site in order to double or triple its capacity. It aims to finish the work by July next year.

Noel Marshall, managing director, says: "This will enhance our network. We are doing a lot of trunking down to Purfleet and we  needed somewhere where we could break bulk, or pick and pack, and other similar transfer operations. "It will give us better coverage and allow us to offer better service to our customers." The company currently has a turnover of £63m and chairman Tony Marshall says it wants to hit £100m within "the next three to five years".
