Licence cut after maintenance problems

09 November 2007

Maintenance problems have resulted in the authorisation on the licence held by Telford-based Christopher Hughes, trading as Chris Hughes Haulage, being cut to seven vehicles by the West Midland Traffic Commissioner Nick Jones.

In reaching his decision the TC took account of a series of undertakings given by Hughes, including that the vehicles receive rolling road brake tests every three months, not including the annual test, that a random audit of safety inspections be carried out on not  less than three vehicles by an independent assessor with the results reported to the Traffic Area Office, and that all maintenance records be kept for two years instead of 15 months.
