Security guard threatened with a gun

14 November 2007

TruckPol is urging staff at distribution depots to remain vigilant after a security guard was threatened with a handgun in Birmingham on Sunday 11 November. Previously that day a white Mercedes tractor unit had been stolen from the NEC and fitted with cloned registration plates.

Three white males then drove it to the transport hub at Duddeston Mill Road, Nechells, Birmingham at around 5pm on the pretext of  collecting a trailer. After being asked for the rear VRM of the trailer by the security guard, the men proceeded to put on ski-masks and point a gun at his head. The guard managed to escape and raise the alarm. The offenders escaped empty-handed and abandoned the tractor unit soon after.
