Mid Developments loses licence

14 November 2007

The company and sole director James Cousins have been disqualified from obtaining an O-licence in any traffic area indefinitely. Mid Developments had initially been called before West Midland deputy traffic commissioner Beverley Bell because of concerns over directorship and finance. She adjourned the hearing saying she needed to know the up-to-date position.

At the resumed hearing vehicle examiner Christopher Ross said the annual test pass rate was 51.85% but agreed that the vehicles  were in good condition. But traffic examiner Edward Evans said he requested two months' analogue and digital tachograph data. None were delivered.

Cousins said it had been his colleague Graham Frost's idea to set up Mid Developments. He had invested £130,000 from an inheritance but Frost had not put any money up. Frost had made a factoring arrangement with UK Plant & Haulage Management of Wadborough. Cousins said the vehicles were on finance with UK Plant and it held the purse strings.

In pushing the firm forward Frost had done a deal with UK Plant as it had substantial groundwork contracts and was bankrolling the company through Frost.
