Edward Stobart, the former boss of haulage firm Eddie Stobart, has re-entered the transport industry with the purchase of part of collapsed bodybuilder Boalloy.
Stobart has acquired the Boalloy Fastruck express body-building operation, beleived to be one of the few profitable parts of the company, for an undisclosed sum; it will be renamed Fastruck Bodies.
The purchase brings to an end weeks of uncertainty for the firm’s customers; it handled body-building for a number of chassis manufacturers including Iveco.
The company was put into administration by its former owners JMF in October, along with sister companies Boalloy Industries and M&G Trailers.
“The products manufactured at Boalloy were of too good a quality to let die,” says Stobart. “In the short term we will continue production of the existing product line-up, but have plans in place to re-establish the company as one of the leading names in the UK bodywork manufacturing sector.”
