Slight fall in profit for CS Ellis

CS Ellis says it is "fairly pleased" with its financial performance, despite a slight dip in profit. Managing director Trevor Ellis says: "We are building a new warehouse about eight or nine miles away from the current base due to the expansion of an existing customer, and hope to make an announcement about this shortly.

"We are not planning any acquisitions, but we would never say never." Pre-tax profit for the Oakham, Leicestershire, haulier fell to £490,465 in the year to June 2007 from  £523,700 in 2006. Operating profit dropped to £593,782 from £625,709 in the previous 12-month period. But turnover grew by 6% to £10.2m from £9.6m in 2006.

The report says: "The directors have assessed the main risks facing the company as fuel prices and staff costs, which are regularly reviewed and carefully managed."
