Stuck, thanks to sat-nav

15 November 2007

A Czech lorry driver was stuck for three days in a Devon lane after his sat-nav system routed him up the narrow road. Yuri Odehnal, working for Czech company Kohlman and Hasek, became completely trapped in the route near Lee Moor after being stuck on a sharp bend. An overhead pipe then wedged the truck in further.

Odehnal slept three nights in his cab and was invited in for meals by local families before the truck was eventually pulled free by a tractor. He had been due to pick up a consignment  of TVs at Lee Moor. A spokesman for Kohlman and Hasek said the sat-nav was to blame: "He put the information into his navigation and went the wrong way."
