Business Post has doubled pre-tax profits to £4.8m on turnover up 9% at £167m in the first half of 2007. Turnover in Business Post's specialist services division, which includes palletised goods and its courier service, was 0.9% down at £20.9m, as the turnover of the courier service dropped 10% to £5.7m (2006: £6.3m).
However, turnover for the palletised goods business was up 3% at £15.2m (2006: £14.8m).
One of the group's successes in 2007 has been in mail delivery, where turnover rose nearly 60% to £59.6m in the first half, up from £37.5m in 2006. In September Business Post handled 130 million pieces of post, 7.5% of the total market, compared to 5.5% in March.
