Blakeleys Waste Management has bought a nearby resident's property to curb her objection to its expansion plans. The company had appeared before North Western traffic commissioner Beverley Bell to apply to increase the authorisation at its Abram site near Wigan from 25 to 30 vehicles.
It was heard that contracts had been exchanged with a completion date at the end of February to give Roxie Rowlands time to find a new property.
Granting the application, Bell said that if the company was to grow it needed to conduct itself properly. At an earlier hearing, director Stephen Blakeley admitted a criminal damage conviction when he had moved the car belonging to Rowlands, which was blocking the access road.
