Not enough hauliers are measuring their fuel cons-umption, says Freight Best Practice (FBP). Programmes manager John Hix says representatives from the Department for Transport-sponsored scheme have met "hundreds" of hauliers that are not measuring how much fuel they are using.
But despite this, FBP's latest impact assessment reveals that just over half the operators surveyed have taken measures to increase fuel efficiency, although half of these have taken just one action.
The report reveals some progress in the awareness of the FBP scheme, which has now extended to Wales. Fuel efficiency cost savings to users of FBP hit £190m in the past two years - compared with £65m at the previous assessment in 2003.
