New Volvo FH due next year

27 November 2007

Abnormally long delivery times have caused Volvo to release details of its new generation FH and FH16, almost a year prior to their launch. Although the trucks do not go into production until next Autumn, UK buyers will be able to place orders from this December.

To give potential buyers some idea of what they will be getting for their money, Volvo has released some vague details and a handful of ‘teaser’ images.

A general lack of exterior shots would indicate that most of the changes  have occurred inside the truck. According to the press release, the new lighting will be unique, and feature 17 light sources and a dimmer switch.

Storage facilities have been increased too, with a new design of compartment with sliding doors above the driver’s seat. Extra storage capacity has been created under the bed.

Comfort levels have been improved, and the broader bed will feature an adjustable backrest. The passenger seat will be capable of reclining and swivelling through 90 degrees.

New headlights are said to provide better visibility when cornering, and will apparently be joined by a host of other new safety features.
