Innovate Logistics is investing millions of pounds on new and existing depots to become the first third-party logistics provider (3PL) offering a 24/7 service across its entire temperature range. The company is increasing the capacity of five existing sites, including the 7,000m2 depot at Bardon, Leics.
The service includes co-packing, case picking and storage. A core fleet of 50 new curtainsiders and box vans will enhance Innovate's distribution service. Staff numbers will increase to 400 when the upgrade is complete. Innovate already operates 24/7 in its warehouse and transport arm MD Pete Osborne explains that the "multi-million-pound investment" will help consolidate its position as the UK's leading provider of temperature-controlled logistics.
"Offering storage and distribution across all temperature regimes will make us the provider of choice," he adds. Mike Lane, MD of the ambient division, which has contracts with Tesco and Nestle, says: "Our existing infrastructure means we can offer a complete service and we will quickly gain ground."
