Crossland builds low-fat milk tanker

27 November 2007

Crossland Tankers has built what it says is "the UK's lightest dedicated milk reload tanker". Business development manager Bryn Ives explains that it incorporates the best parts of various customers' specifications, including fibre-glass insulation. "We also took a look at the fifth-wheel and landing legs," he says.

The result is a tanker that weighs just five tonnes, which Ives says is "800kg lighter than the best of the rest". He believes it weighs up to 1,800kg less than many of the  older units in the UK's current pool of milk trailers. He is confident that the majority of operators will "do the sums", and eventually make the new trailer the industry norm.
