Operators wanting to buy Volvo's new FH and FH16 should place their orders now to receive them by autumn 2008. The truck manufacturer claims "immense demand" leading to "abnormally long delivery times" means customers need to sign up for the new vehicles at least 10 months in advance.
The upgraded models include a redesigned cab interior, increased storage capacity and better lighting. The gear controls for the I-Shift and Powertronic transmissions have been moved out a little from the driver's seat to provide added space. The bunk is broader and possesses an adjustable backrest the passenger seat swivels 90deg and reclines 15deg.
The windscreen wipers use sensors to adjust to the amount of rain that is falling and cornering lights are fitted to provide better visibility while turning. Volvo will not discuss prices at the moment, but Claes Nilsson, president of Volvo Trucks' Europe Division, says: "We want to give our customers the opportunity to place advance orders for the product range that will become available as of next autumn."
