Pentalver opens MOT test facility

29 November 2007

Pentalver Cannock is poised to open a new MOT testing facility at its container depot in Cannock, Staffordshire. Testing will begin on 30 November and will initially be limited to the company's own vehicles. Andy Gallimore, health and safety, quality and human resources manager at Pentalver, says: "At first we will be limiting this to our own trucks, but we expect to open the site to third parties from 1 February. The VOSA-approved test will include a smoke metre to test emissions - part of the  standard MOT test."

Pentalver's £12.5m purpose-built depot, which opened in September, spans 28 acres and is one of the largest inland container handling facilities in Europe, with the capacity to store 5,000 containers. Security features include 24-hour lighting columns, infrared CCTV, security fencing and on-site guards.

Gallimore says the number of containers the company has handled at the site has nearly tripled since the beginning of September. He adds: "We now handle 1,870 containers at the site when we moved in, the figure was about 750. It's going really well we signed up three new customers on our launch day in September, and the level of business we are doing has exceeded expectations."
