Booze bandits strike

10 December 2007

Pre-Christmas thieves stole almost £300,000 worth of malt whisky from a Hertfordshire haulier last week. The haul included bottles of the Islay malt Bowmore. Police have not named the haulier but say a Bowmore spokeswoman says this is the first time the distiller has suffered such a large loss.

Christmas booze was also taken in Dublin when an unmarked tractor slipped through security and hooked up a loaded trailer containing £46,000 worth of beer and stout from a brewery distribution site  on Victoria Quay.
