Boughey slashes fuel bill through driver training

14 December 2007

Boughey Distribution has seen its fuel bill drop by 5% since rolling out a driver training scheme. The Wardle, Cheshire-based haulier has appointed two driver trainers, who have received extensive tuition from vehicle suppliers Volvo and MAN. They are now in the process of training every Boughey driver.

Managing director Keith Forster explains that although still in its infancy, the scheme has already proved a resounding success - with far better results than an earlier fuel-saving project,  which saw maximum speed limits lowered.

As proof of its success, it has found that the three worst performing drivers have yet to attend the training scheme, and that none of the untrained drivers appear in its top 20 driver performance list. "Not only are we using 5% less fuel, but we are producing 5% less carbon emissions," says Forster.
