Browns aims to make Palletline's top five

09 January 2008

Stoke-on-Trent-based Browns Distribution wants to become one of the top five inputters into the Palletline network "within a few months". Director David Brown Jr says the company, currently one of the top ten inputting firms, needs to add around another 50 pallets per night to move up the ranking. He adds: "We are currently doing more than 100 per night and we have just won a contract that will put us close to that target."

Additionally, the £7m-turnover company has just broadened its service  offering and is now giving its customers the option of parcel delivery through a joint venture with Midlands parcel operator Express Despatch. Browns collects parcels from customers and feeds them into Express Despatch's Stoke depot for onward delivery. In return, Express puts pallet deliveries through Browns. Brown adds: "It's really going well for us at the minute. We have spoken to other hauliers and they've said that they can't make [parcels] work for them, but for some reason we are doing really well at it."
