Transport consortium Jigsaw says it expects 2008 to be much tougher than previous years, after reporting a pre-tax profit growth of £122,000. For the year ending 31 March 2007, the transport services supplier's pre-tax profit was £576,000.
Commercial director Paul Smith says turnover also increased to almost £20m, from about £17.7m in 2006. Smith says that although the figures reflect business growth they also reflect the lack of exceptional items because restructuring costs were taken into account during 2005/06.
"We are relatively pleased we had a reasonably good year. We had some major contract renewals and a few ups and downs," Smith says. Regarding the latest trading period he adds: "It's a tougher year than the previous couple. However, our 2007/08 figures will still be healthy."
