Ford is to sell its European-produced Transit Connect van in selected North American markets from 2009. The launch, announced by group vice-president of global product development Derrick Kuzak at the Chicago Auto Show, builds on the company's massive 40% share of the total CV market in the US.
Aimed at small
businesses that require compact dimensions, the Transit Connect will be available with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and automatic transmission.
John Fleming, president and CEO of Ford Europe, says: "We're proud of the fact that the popular Transit Connect will be the first European Ford commercial vehicle to go on sale in North America. I have every confidence that customers will appreciate its unique blend of qualities."
