Ray Smith administrator expects deals soon

14 February 2008

The administrator for Ray Smith Group, which ceased trading before Christmas, remains confident that buyers will be found for the remaining parts of the business. Lawrence David acquired the RSG One-Call aftersales support operation at the start of the year ('Lawrence David buys up part of Ray Smith', CM 10 January) and Graham Bushby, administrator at Baker Tilly, says there has been  considerable interest in the rest of the business.

"We are currently negotiating with several interest parties for the various elements of the Ray Smith business and expect to have completed deals within the next week or so. This is in addition to the maintenance contact division which was sold before Christmas.

"We have also recently sold Garfield Hydrol Limited to Kerry Plant Hire, which has resulted in employment for a number of previous employees. In addition, our agents have received separate interest in the company's freehold property, which is also up for sale," he says.
