The trade associations and VOSA have signed a document that promises closer working relationships to raise standards in the industry.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by VOSA, along with the Road Haulage Association, Freight Transport Association (FTA), the Retail Motor Industry Federation, British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association and the Confederation of Passenger Transport.
The document recognises the need for "clear two way communication, mutual respect and cooperation".
Stephen Tetlow, VOSA chief executive, says: "This agreement is a clear demonstration of VOSA and the trade associations' commitment to working together to raise standards in the transport industry."
Theo de Pencier, FTA chief executive, adds: "The Service Level Agreement is a logical step in improving VOSA's relationship with its customers - the road transport industry - and will work to the benefit of both the agency and the industry.
"It creates a level of standards in which all parties can expect a fair and efficient process of working together. On behalf of the FTA, I very much welcome this new advance."
