West Lindsey District Council, Lincs, used its vehicle telematics system to help protect residents from floods last month. Operational services manager Glyn Pilkington explains that it was used to locate trucks carrying sandbags and direct them to areas where rising water posed the greatest threat.
He says: "It was a major logistical exercise to co-ordinate our vehicles to go to those areas at most risk. "The Eagle-i telematics system proved invaluable in helping us contain this latest flood risk. We felt we were able to tackle and contain the problem much better this time around and learnt the lessons from the previous floods in 2007."
