RHA urges TfL not to charge 'innocent' operators

29 February 2008

The Road Haulage Association is warning those operators that have been in the London low-emission zone (LEZ) since it was launched that their grace period will come to an end on 3 March. It claims that many of its members have still not received their abatement equipment to comply to the emission standards, even though many ordered long before the zone came into force.

It is urging Transport for  London (TfL) to reconsider its decision to impose charges upon operators that are running non-compliant vehicles even though they had acted 'in time'. A TfL spokeswoman says: "If people can provide evidence they tried to get the equipment fitted on time, we will look at their case specifically."
