The UK operator described the purchase as the latest in a series of in-fill acquisitions in the UK and Europe, designed top broaden its business base and generate incremental growth. In January it bought container haulier Hanbury Davies (Wincanton expands presence with Hanbury Davies buy).
HeBo is based in Dusseldorf and employs 50 people. In the year to 31 December 2007 it reported turnover of €3.2m and pre-tax profits of €500,000.
Victoria Aitchison, UK and Ireland marketing and communications manager at Wincanton, says: "The acquisition (of HeBo) supports Wincanton's aim to become the leading logistics service provider in Europe. It builds on our expertise within the high-tech sector and allows Wincanton to offer national and international line transport for sensitive and high value items."
