Clipper confident about future sales and profit

Clipper Group Holdings has posted a lower profit but an increase in turnover. Operating profit for the year to April 2007 dropped to £3.3m from £4.5m the previous year. Pre-tax profit also dropped to £1.2m from £2.6m in 2006. However, revenue increased to £117.6m from £86m in the previous 12-month period.

Start-up costs of a new van centre in Leeds meant operating profit at its CV dealership Northern Commercials (Mirfield) fell to £588,646 in the year to April 2007, down from £1.8m in 2006.  Pre-tax profit also dipped to £422,128, down from £1.7m.Turnover dropped to £34m, down from £49.5m. Out of the other companies in the group, operating and pre-tax profit rose at both Clip-per Group and DTS Logistics.
