Turnover and profit down at Lenham Storage

03 April 2008

Turnover at Maidstone, Kent-based haulier Lenham Storage has fallen slightly from a record high in 2006. Lenham's turnover, according to the latest Companies House figures, dropped from £16.22m in the year ending 31 August 2006 to £16.03m in 2007. Pre-tax profit was also down - from £301,000 to £139,000.

The company did increase its number of staff, from 285 to 301, with a wage bill up from just under £6.5m to just over £7m. However  the highest-paid director was paid less in 2007 than 2006, with a drop from £178,000 to £128,000 (both figures excluding pension contributions).

The directors' report indicates that one of the reasons for the decrease in profits is that money has been invested in the refurbishment of the company's warehouses. It adds: "Although the board continually strive to minimise the impact of cost increases, where the need arises, the company is proactive in reinvesting profits back into the business."
