Wincanton still hungry for acquisitions

04 April 2008

Wincanton has not yet lost its appetite for acquisitions after revealing that further purchases remain on the cards. Following its recent high-profile swoops for Hanbury Davies, Swales Haulage and the German-based HeBo, the logistics giant says it still sees "attractive opportunities" for further growth through acquisitions. In its trading statement for the year ending 31 March 2008, Wincanton says the integration of construction company Swales Haulage  and container logistics haulier Hanbury Davies has been successful, and that the results for the full year will be in line with expectations.

The HeBo purchase has strengthened its growing Hi-Tech operations on the Continent, and UK and Ireland growth has also been achieved organically through contract wins with Sainsbury's, Gallo Wines, Wavin and BP. Chief executive Graham McFaull says further acquisitions are under review: "We expect to report another good performance in the year to 31 March 2008. We continue to see attractive opportunities for Wincanton, both in terms of organic growth and further acquisitions."
