Accounts for the Felixstowe-based haulage company CP Transportation Services show it was experiencing considerable growth before its licence was revoked for operating as a 'phoenix' business. Traffic Commissioner Geoffrey Simms disqualified the company and directors Adam and Anthony Searle for 12 months in all traffic areas from 31 December 2006. An application by the company had attracted concern from locally based hauliers, who believed CP Transportation Services was a front to continue the business of a previous company that had gone into administration (CM 14 December 2006).
According to its accounts for the year ending 31 March 2007, the company had increased turnover by 335% to £1.04m during the period. Gross profit had grown by a similar amount to £153,000. Short-term debts were £224,000. Adam Searle is now involved with another Felixstowe firm, a haulage clearing house called SSK Distribution, which is described as a "family business". He declines to comment on the results, but says he does not intend to reapply for an O-licence.
